About Saffa Skills

A practical place for South Africans to build real skills

Saffa Skills is a free education and training platform being built by Saffa Education & Training for South Africans at home and around the world.

For South Africans worldwide

The idea in one line

Learn useful things, practise them properly and prove what you can do.

  • 01Learn
  • 02Build
  • 03Prove
  • 04Progress

What it is

Useful learning, real practice and proof of what you can do

Whether you’re learning to use a computer properly for the first time, trying to understand AI, improving the way you work, changing careers or developing advanced technical skills, the approach stays the same.

  1. Learn

    Understand something properly.

  2. Build

Practise through real tasks and projects.

  3. Prove

Demonstrate what you can actually do.

  4. Progress

Use those skills to improve your work, career, business or future.

Not just courses

Guided to the next useful thing

This is not being designed as a giant course catalogue.

When the platform launches, learners will be guided toward the next useful thing to learn, based on:

  • What they already know
  • What they want to achieve
  • How confident they are with technology
  • How much time they have
  • Where they want to work or progress

The learner’s main screen will focus on

Today’s Mission

not hundreds of courses.

Made for South Africans

Real work and real life, at home and abroad

Saffa Skills is designed specifically for South Africans at home and abroad. Examples and learning scenarios will reflect real work and life, preparing learners for both South African and international opportunities.

Learning scenarios from

  • Farms
  • Workshops
  • Small businesses
  • Offices
  • Schools
  • Logistics
  • Trades
  • Professional services
  • Remote work
  • Rebuilding a career overseas

How the platform is being designed

Inclusive, guided and free at its core

Languages

The platform is being designed to support all 12 official South African languages over time.

The first release will be in English. Additional written languages will be introduced progressively, with human language review.

South African Sign Language needs properly interpreted video, so it will be a dedicated accessibility programme rather than a simple text translation.

AI tutor

A built-in AI tutor will help explain lessons, answer questions and adapt explanations to the learner.

  • If you’re a mechanic, it can explain a technical concept using workshop examples.
  • If you run a business, it can explain the same concept in operational terms.
  • If you’re new to technology, it can explain it without unnecessary jargon.

The AI tutor will work inside approved learning material. It is not intended to replace qualified professional, legal or accredited educational advice.

Free core learning

Core learning is intended to remain free.

The platform is being designed so that future sponsorships, partnerships and optional services can help cover the cost of keeping essential training accessible.

Where things stand

Honest about what exists today

  • Still being built

The full Saffa Skills learning platform is currently being built. Nothing on this website is open to learners yet, and every training area shows its real status.

  • Independent

Saffa Skills is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government body, SAQA, QCTO, university or employer.

  • Evidence over certificates

Skills are earned through practical evidence, not just by watching lessons. Nothing here is an accredited qualification.

  • Privacy first

No advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Joining the launch list needs only a first name and an email address.
